The bright white cala lilies brighten
up a shady corner. They are nearly four feet tall, overshadowing
the bird bath.
These
are the leaves of cala lilies. They are large, arrow head shaped.
The large, showy white part of the
cala lily is the spathe, the actual flowers are
on the orange spike, called a spadix.
The male flowers on the upper part of
the orange spadix produce pollen (white particles). The female
flowers are on the lower part of the spadix.
